If you drive through Raynham and see a dragon, don’t be surprised.

A snow dragon, that is.

Using snow, a Raynham family built a sculpture of a dragon on its lawn recently.

William Graves said he started building a snow frame on Feb. 5 when he envisioned creating a dragon.

As he continued building, the efforts inspired his wife and daughter to join the fun.

"And then from there, I would just think of something else – like ‘oh let’s add some wings to it,’" Graves said.

The creature now attracts motorists to the area.

"During the daytime, on average about every 10 minutes, somebody stops and gets a picture of it," said Graves

Now, the dragon stands at 10 feet long and 5 feet tall. It’s name – Carl.

"I named it Carl and I really couldn’t give you a reason why. It seemed like a nice friendly name," Graves said.
